To All my friends in the Baltimore Area: Welcome to the footbol / soccer page!
- By Scotty
Let me start buy saying I am nervous to have anything I write shown in a public forum but my good man Miguel has asked me to get the ball rolling for his website. I think he asked me to do this as a form of payment for all the tequila that he has bought me in the past.
A little background – when I met Miguel it became fairly obvious that we had few vitally important things in common.
Good Food – which he cooks and I eat like it’s my job
Good Drink – which I also consider at least a part time job
And Footbol – which is much closer to a spiritual thing
And since that time we have spent hours in what I would like to call discourse but in reality is unfortunately more like a dissertation (see #2 above) of all things football.
We started talking about how limited the choices in Baltimore are when trying to find places that share all three of these things.
I mean – I think we have all been to places that will grudgingly put a Champions League game on until some mis-guided soul states “Soccer!!! - put on the Bass master’s highlight show” and poof there you are yet again – a second class citizen.
So when Miguel started putting the concept of his new place together he stated right up front that it would become a Footbol / Soccer destination in Baltimore. The kind of place where the food is excellent the atmosphere unique and a bartender will be fired on the spot if a channel is touched while a match is on. A place where you can come for an 11am EPL match with your Fulham shirt on, change into a Barca shirt for the 1pm kickoff and finish off the afternoon in your DC United gear.
Here is the game plan –
There will always be great food!!!
There will always be drink specials for big matches and supporters groups!!!
And -- If the doors are open there will always be matches on the big screens!!!!

I remember when I was a kid watching a two week old Soccer Made in Germany on a PBS channel that was as snowy as our weather lately --- now look at this.

I came across a link to a cat that has a gaggle of vintage US centric games when I was trying to remember the old TV show – If you’re into it WOW

At this point it looks like the MLS season should start on time but I can see a strike right around the world cup.

The Nat’s win last night left me unimpressive – same tactics – same players -- I’m not feeling great about this summer’s world cup yet.

That was the time to try something anything different and is just me or does Bob remind anyone else of the icons from Easter Island?
When comparing it to Mexico’s 4 goals in 21min and 5-0 overall we look very average.

So Wayne Bridge has decided to opt out of this summers world cup – Wow the fact that someone on the team slept with your old girlfriend is enough to kill a world cup dream is terrible.
